Essiac Tea Info
This tea supposedly can completely cure cancer but the true recipe is debated and possibly lost, but there are still many variants of what people think it was. It was developed by  a Canadian Nurse Rene Caisse (died in 1978) in the 1930's. It is based of a cure she learned from a patient who had been cured by a Native American. The four main herbs in them are: Burdock root, Sheep Sorrel, Slippery Elm inner bark and Turkey rhubarb root. The ones not used are: periwinkle, red clover and watercress. Rene Caisse left no written record of the 8th herb.   More Info can be read at http://essiac-info.org or http://www.healthy.net/asp/templates/article.asp?PageType=article&ID=2008 A free eBook about her is available online at http://garyglum.hotbox.ru/  This book is full of false info, but has some good info.
A great book "The Essiac Report".  Written by Richard Thomas,
it was published in Dec 1993, by ATIN (the Alternative Treatment
Information Network), Los Angeles.  They can be reached at
(800) 446-3063.  This book covers the history of Essiac from 1892 to the
present, with much documentation, pictures, testimonials, and pertinent
information as to usage.  The cost of the book is US $ 19.95, + shipping
and handling, and they guarantee fast delivery.

The Recipes:
1-From her assistant. (As with all herb teas, however, its ability to work is heavily dependent on the quality of the growing, processing and storage of the herbs.)

2-Flor*Essence by Elaine Alexander (who supposedly died of cancer), who got the recipe from the early partner of hers. Makes no claims about cancer.

3-ESSIAC® International This is supposedly the recipe from the company (Resperin) that Caisse sold the formula too right before she died. The only problem is more people debate weather this is the real one because of how the company was taken over... see links on essiac-info.org

6.5 cups of Burdock root (cut)
1 pound of Sheep sorrel herb powdered
1 quarter pound of Slippery elm bark powdered
1 ounce of Turkish rhubarb root powdered
Mix these ingredients thoroughly and store in glass jar in dark dry cupboard.
Take a measuring cup, use 1 ounce of herb mixture to 32 ounces of water depending on the amount you want to make.
Boil hard for 10 minutes (covered), then turn off the heat but leave sitting on warm plate overnight (covered).
In the morning heat steaming hot and let settle for a few minutes. Then strain through a fine strainer into hot, sterilized bottles and sit to cool. Store in a dark, cool cupboard. Must be refrigerated when opened. When near the last when it's thick, pour into a large jar and sit in the fridge overnight. Then pour off all you can without sediment.
This recipe must be followed exactly as written. I use a granite (enamel) preserving kettle (10-12 qts), 8 ounce measuring cup, small funnel and fine strainer (kitchen sieve) to fill bottles.
